07.Baby Music

This post is for my Sister, who will be giving birth to my Nephew any day now.

(I've put this up here for her, but obviously if you're interested, feel free to grab these also.)

"Numerous studies conclude that playing music to babies in the womb and in the early years helps build the neural bridges along which thoughts and information travel. And research suggests it can stimulate the brain's alpha waves, creating a feeling of calm; a recent study of premature infants found that they were soothed by the music.
It's known as the Mozart Effect, a theory which is credited with boosting IQ, improving health, strengthening family ties and even producing the occasional child prodigy."

The first part is relaxing, IQ boosting, classical music.

Hi, I read a post on a forum in which you posted a great photo by Andreas Gursky (a picture from a Chinese factory with pink work outfits). I'd like to know if you knew the title of the work and what year it's from. Could you please answer here or post it on my blog or on my mail: timpeltje@spray.se ?

thanks very much in advance, you have great photographic taste by the way ;-)

Your classical mix is fantastic!! Really superb. I dare say it's the best collection of "soft" classical music I've yet heard. Thank you.

I'm downloading the other mix to check it out.

Wow! This is RIGHT up my alley! My blog I've started is about how baby music (something we all provide our children) isn't all created equal, and that certain baby music can really stimulate a growing baby's brain and truly help them intellectually and otherwise. Thanks so much for this informative post.

Amen to this post!! I REALLY believe in playing high quality music (like you recommend) to all young children, and even in utero as well. Studies do show this helps their brains mature not only more quickly but also end up growing their brain's capacity permanently. It's wonderful what you're doing!
